Hudson Terrace – Pasadena, CA

The project includes the development of 16 townhouse units in two buildings on a site that has two street frontages and consists of two parcels. One street frontage is on Hudson Avenue and the other is on Oak Knoll Avenue. The building fronting Hudson is four stories in height and twelve units, and the building fronting Oak Knoll is three stories in height and contains four units. The entire project is tied together with delicately landscaped yards containing waterfalls, rock cropping and trellised areas for outdoor gathering, constructed over a subterranean parking garage with vehicular ingress and egress on both streets. The project architectural style draws from international style with massing broken up both horizontally and vertically, creating interesting variations of void and solids with large areas of glass and transparency that brings daylight and air to the building. The project uses a variety of high quality materials such as cast stone veneer, composite wood and metal paneling, insulated glazing and steel trawled finish plaster applied skillfully to the massing of the building to emphasize the detailing and color variations of the forms.
